September 15, 2012

The "Busy Bees" had a lot of fun celebrating Grandparent's Day with their grandparents/special friends.  The children really enjoyed singing songs for their grandparents.  After singing we had B. Bass' grandpa read our "Grandpa" book and he did an awesome job.  He even wiggled his ears for the children.  They loved it!  Then, J. Robertson's grandmother read our "Grandma" book.  She did a super job as well.  After story time, the children sang one more song before heading to the gym to get their picture made with their grandparent/special friend.  After pictures were taken the children and grandparents shopped at the Scholastic Book fair.  The "hot" item again this year was the finger pointer.  Who would have thought?

I will be completing the beginning of the year assessments this week, and I am very impressed how smart your children are.  They are doing awesome work.

We have began our phonics lessons learning the sounds of  M, S, A, and T.  We will begin blending and reading three letter words in word families using these letters.  It is so exciting when the children start to read.  We have also learned two sight words, I and like.

In math we are learning to count with one to one correspondence and record our data.

Monday,  9/17,  we will be learning about Constitution Day.

Tuesday,  9/18,  is picture day, don't forget.

We will have our first field trip on Friday, October 5th to the pumpkin patch.  We would love to have you join us if you can come.

The children are making great progress learning the rules and procedures and they are transitioning into kindergarten very nicely.  I am very proud of them.

Thank you for sharing your children with me.  They are a joy!

Mrs. Shelton
